Celebrating Christmas is never boring – but that’s no reason not to spice it up this year with some new innovative party ideas you can throw at home to wow your guests or family members.
1. Pet Dress-Up Party
With more Singaporeans becoming pet owners these days, the holidays are the perfect opportunity to bring your friends who are animal lovers together to usher in the festivities.
Let your guests bring their furry friends, but with one exception: The pets must be dressed up in holiday colours! Apart from lots of free cuddling and the oh-so-cute outfits, think of all the beautiful pictures you’ll be able to post on Instagram!
2. Christmas “Re-gift” Party
Receiving gifts are part of the Christmas holiday tradition. Unfortunately, not all gifts are equally desired. Rather than leave them untouched, why not put them to good use by offering them to someone else – at a Christmas “re-gift” party?
Encourage your guests to bring a gift that was untouched– the gift has to be wrapped and everyone can choose to pick a new one from the collected pile under the Christmas tree! It’s a great way to recycle and add a twist to the gift exchange tradition of Christmas.
3. Kueh Pie Tee Party
Is there ever a reason NOT to have a kueh pie tee party? Round up your friends and make delicious kueh pie tee to pair with a few nice bottles of champagne to add to the holiday cheer.
Top off your kueh pie tees with sliced red chilli and green spring onions for a bit of extra crunch, and if you really want to get into the Christmas spirit, swap out one of the ingredients for a “Christmas” ingredient, like turkey, cranberry sauce, or even ham!
4. Healthy Vegan Party
The holidays are a great time to indulge in some great food – but for a healthier twist, you could put together a party with just fruits and vegetables for appetisers and entrees. The fruits can also be used to infuse cocktails and drinks (oranges, apples, pineapple) to amp up the holiday spirit.
5. Gingerbread Decoration Party
What better way to finish Christmas dinner than with some freshly baked gingerbread cookies – designed by the guests themselves? Lay out some piping cream in different colours, an assortment of candies, and let your guests express their creativity by decorating their own gingerbread cookies. Guests can even vote afterwards and the winning design can take home a prize.
