With so many jogging trails in Singapore, it’s no surprise that this outdoor cardio exercise is one of Singaporeans’ favourite ways to work out. But not all trails were created equal – here are our top three scenic jogging trails for you to enjoy the next time you slip on your running shoes.
1. Bask in the sunset and waterfront precinct of Keppel Bay
There’s no better view of the southern part of Singapore than to jog along the Keppel Bay precinct from HarbourFront to Labrador MRT station.
Start from either station and be prepared to be greeted by the sight of iconic structures along this 3km-long coastal route, including the trio of beautifully-designed luxury waterfront condominiums by Keppel Land – namely, Corals at Keppel Bay, Reflections at Keppel Bay and Caribbean at Keppel Bay. These three modern residential developments add a touch of class and elegance to Singapore’s southern shoreline.
Start your jog in the early evening to enjoy the beautiful sunset at around 7pm. If you’re looking for a shorter route, you may also choose to run from HarbourFront MRT to Keppel Island, which is only about 1.2km.
2. Choose your own adventure at the Southern Ridges
Take a jog along this incredible 7.5km stretch that links up several parks, which include Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park. For most people, Kent Ridge MRT station is a good place to start.
There are many highlights to look out for when you’re on this route – one of the more popular features is the Forest Walk, which is an elevated 1km walkway that lets you experience what it feels like to jog through a forest.
Another big hit among joggers is Henderson Waves, Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge built 36m above Henderson Road. Here, you’ll not only enjoy the structure’s distinctive wave-like design, but also a bird’s eye view of the island.
Overall, this is a suitable route for intermediate joggers, as well as for night runs, with plenty of different route options and hilly slopes guaranteed to challenge any jogging enthusiast.
3. Take in the view of the dazzling Marina Bay Skyline
Another great option is to jog around the Marina Bay waterfront. Start from Bayfront MRT station and take a leisurely 3km run that takes you in a loop around the bay back to the station where you started.
As you enjoy the view of the bay – which is especially mesmerising during the evening sunset – take your time to also appreciate some of the iconic structures along the waterfront.
These include One Fullerton, a gracefully designed two-storey waterfront development; the Esplanade Bridge, which leads to the iconic Merlion; and the ArtScience Museum, a striking lotus-inspired building designed by Moshe Safdie, an internationally-renowned Israeli-Canadian architect.
