Singapore, 13 February 2020 – The Keppel Group will make a RMB3 million donation to support the nationwide efforts to fight the novel coronavirus in China.

The donation will be made through Keppel Land China Limited (Keppel Land China), to the Shanghai Charity Foundation, to support the deployment of medical teams from Shanghai and provision of medical and other supplies to Hubei Province and other affected regions in China. The Shanghai Charity Foundation is a charity organisation founded by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Shanghai Municipal Government, and is one of the largest charity foundations in China.

Mr Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel Corporation said, “This donation represents the support from all of us at Keppel to the dedicated frontline medical professionals, and the individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by the novel coronavirus. The Keppel Group has been in China for over 30 years and we are committed to doing our part to support China’s efforts to fight this outbreak.

“In these challenging times, we are also focused on the well-being and safety of our employees, customers and partners. We have put in place the necessary precautionary measures at all our offices and workplaces to contain the spread of the virus, as well as business continuity plans, and will work closely with the authorities and other stakeholders in the various cities where we operate.”

The Shanghai Charity Foundation expressed appreciation for Keppel’s concern and support at this critical time when China is fighting the novel coronavirus. The Foundation believes that with the strong support from communities in China and abroad, China will be able to win the battle, and continue the country’s growth and development.

The donation will be used to support the emergency medical rescue teams deployed from Shanghai, the first batch of whom had set off for Hubei Province in late January, as well as prevention, treatment and aftercare efforts in Hubei Province and other affected regions in China.

The Keppel Group entered the China market in the 1980s and has been providing solutions for sustainable urbanisation across the country. Keppel has also been active in the community through a wide range of CSR programmes and has contributed to various humanitarian and relief efforts over the years.
