Keppel Land China’s Chief conferred Shanghai Magnolia Award
Singapore, 12 September 2019 – Mr Ben Lee, President of Keppel Land China Limited (Keppel Land China), was conferred the Shanghai Magnolia Award today by Mr Zhang Xiaosong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government. The award, set up in 1989 by the Shanghai Municipal Government, recognises foreigners for their outstanding contribution to Shanghai's economic and social development, as well as its foreign relations. Mr Lee is the only recipient from a Singaporean company recognised at this year’s ceremony.
Mr Lee said, "I am honoured to receive the Shanghai Magnolia Award, which is an affirmation of Keppel Land China’s contributions to Shanghai’s sustainable urbanisation over the years. Since entering Shanghai more than 20 years ago, Keppel Land China has been privileged to participate in and contribute to Shanghai’s economic and social development with our quality homes and offices, as well as our community engagement efforts. Moving ahead, Keppel Land China will continue to innovate, explore new, smart urban solutions, and contribute further to the urban environment in China.”
When Keppel Land China ventured into Shanghai in 1994, it was one of the first foreign real estate companies to do so. Over the years, the company has established itself as a leading real estate company with a quality portfolio of projects ranging from homes, offices to shopping malls. In Shanghai, its flagship development is the Park Avenue precinct in the prime Jing’an District. Harnessing strengths across the Group, Keppel Land China has also collaborated with Keppel Capital to invest in prime properties in Shanghai, such as Life Hub @ Jinqiao, Trinity Tower and Yi Fang Tower. Keppel Land China will continue to execute its strategy to grow its commercial portfolio in China, with a focus on first-tier cities such as Shanghai.
Reflecting its commitment to sustainability, Keppel Land China has 15 developments certified to the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore’s (BCA) Green Mark Gold standard, of which three were conferred to projects in Shanghai.
Keppel Land China also contributes to the community in Shanghai with a variety of programmes, including its poverty alleviation programme, where Keppel Land China works with the local government and NGOs in Shanghai to support the Chinese government’s poverty alleviation efforts, blood donation drives and charity runs.
