Keppel Land China opens Seasons City’s retail mall in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City
Keppel Land China Limited (Keppel Land China), has opened its much anticipated retail mall in Seasons City in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (Eco-City) today. This marks Keppel Land China’s expansion into the retail sector in the Eco-City, a landmark bilateral project between the Governments of Singapore and China.
Mr Ben Lee, Chief Operating Officer of Keppel Land and President of Keppel Land China, said, “The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City has just marked its 13th anniversary this week and Keppel Land is honoured to have actively contributed to the Eco-City’s transformation over the years. We are pleased to announce the opening of the retail mall of Seasons City, Keppel Land’s first commercial development in the Eco-City. We will leverage our innovative and multi-faceted urban space solutions to meet the needs of residents, office workers and tourists to the area, thus contributing further to the Eco-City’s vibrancy and attractiveness. In line with Keppel’s Vision 2030, Seasons City’s retail mall will also contribute to the Group’s recurring income stream, bolstering our ability to create long-term value for stakeholders.”
Seasons City is part of Keppel Land's growing commercial portfolio in China to meet the rising demand for prime office and retail space. Located within the mature Start-Up Area of the Eco-City, Seasons City has a total gross floor area of about 161,800 sm, comprising a five-storey retail mall and three office towers. The retail mall has a gross leasable area of about 44,543 sm, and is a well-curated lifestyle haven that is home to gourmet dining establishments, high fashion brands, total wellness and experiential entertainment catering to all ages.
In recognition of its sustainable features, Phase 1 of Seasons City, comprising the retail mall and a 10-storey office tower, has been conferred the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore’s (BCA) Green Mark Platinum Award (Provisional), the highest accolade under the BCA Green Mark scheme. The commercial development adopts energy-efficient lighting designs, chillers and ventilation systems. It also taps on non-potable water for landscape irrigation and other uses, thus reducing the demand for potable water. The project has also installed photovoltaics and a solar hot water system to harness solar energy. The total cost saving that can be achieved from the water and energy saving features at Seasons City (Phase 1) is estimated to be over RMB 9 million (approximately S$ 1.8 million) a year.
In line with Keppel Land’s mission to deliver innovative solutions that enrich people and communities, Seasons City also features a range of smart applications such as smart parking system and a cloud-based service platform which offers personalised and convenient shopping experiences. The mall also boasts an iconic 26 m tall artificial tree strategically located in the central atrium, which is part of an interactive and immersive multimedia experience that promotes eco-living.
Seasons City is part of the Seasons Smart Vibrant Precinct in the Eco-City which was launched at the 5th World Intelligence Congress in May 2021. The Seasons Smart Vibrant Precinct leverages technologies such as 5G, Artificial Internet of Things, big data and Augmented Reality, to enhance public amenities as well as urban living experiences.
The Keppel Group leads the Singapore Consortium in the development of the Eco-City, which has been transformed from a barren site into a vibrant and sustainable community. There are currently over 120,000 people1 living and working in the Eco-City.
