Keppel wins international recognition in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark 2020

The Keppel Group continued to be recognised for its sustainability efforts in the 2020 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) assessment.

This year, Keppel Land Limited (Keppel Land), the property arm of Keppel Corporation, ranked 3rd globally in the Diversified - Office/Residential/Core category, underpinned by strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance, and 2nd in the Global / Diversified - Office/Residential category in GRESB’s Resilience module, which evaluates companies’ responses to climate-related risks and opportunities in line with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Separately, Keppel Land, together with Keppel REIT, managed by Keppel REIT Management Limited, and Alpha Asia Macro Trends Fund III under Alpha Investment Partners Limited (Alpha), all retained their Green Star status, which recognises entities with commendable scores across the benchmark’s ESG components. Keppel REIT also retained its “A” rating for Public Disclosure in GRESB 2020, which demonstrates its robust ESG reporting framework. The Public Disclosure level is an overall measure of ESG disclosures by listed property companies, based on a selection of indicators aligned with the existing GRESB Assessment. Keppel REIT Management Limited and Alpha are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Keppel Capital Holdings.

Mr Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel Corporation, said, “Keppel’s recognition in GRESB reflects our continuous efforts to drive ESG improvements. In line with Vision 2030, we have put sustainability at the core of our strategy, and are committed not only to running our businesses sustainably, but to making sustainability our business by providing solutions that contribute to a cleaner and greener world.”

GRESB assesses and benchmarks the ESG performance of real estate and infrastructure assets worldwide, aligned with international reporting frameworks, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), and UN Sustainable Development Goals, among others. Companies were evaluated on indicators including leadership management and stakeholder engagement, asset portfolio performance, as well as efforts in addressing ESG issues in the design, construction and operation of buildings.
