Keppel Corporation and Keppel Land also recognised for sustainability efforts at the Sustainable Business Awards Singapore 2020/21

Keppel Corporation (Keppel) was named the Apex Winner in the Sustainable Business category of the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards 2021. The award was conferred by Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), the local chapter of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards is one of the most prestigious awards for companies in Singapore on corporate sustainability, and its criteria are aligned to the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, encompassing the areas of environment, human rights, labour and anti-corruption. The award for the Sustainable Business category recognises businesses that excel in implementing sustainable practices within their core operations.

Separately, Keppel Corporation and Keppel Land were also acknowledged for their sustainability efforts at the Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) Singapore 2020/21 organised by Global Initiatives on 7 December 2021. Keppel Corporation was presented the Highly Commended Overall award for its strong progress in sustainability, including the Company’s commitment to halve its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050, while Keppel Land won awards across 7 out of 12 categories. Keppel Land was conferred Winner in the Community, Land Use and Biodiversity, Stakeholder Management, and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals categories, and received the Significant Achievement award in the Energy Management, Climate Change & Emissions, and Supply Chain Management categories.

Global Initiatives is a Singapore-based company which uses sustainability and data science knowhow to help companies become more sustainable. Since 2012, the SBA has been held in partnership with global consulting firm PwC, industry associations and government agencies, and recognises corporate leadership in categories that include sustainability strategy, community, energy and water management, supply chain, and ethics among others.

Apart from these awards, Keppel’s sustainability efforts have also been affirmed by its inclusion/retention in several key global sustainability benchmarks. In 2021, Keppel Corporation retained the highest triple-A rating in the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) ESG ratings^[1]. Keppel Corporation is also an index component of the FTSE4Good Index maintained by the Financial Times Stock Exchange Group, the iEdge SG ESG Leaders Index and iEdge SG ESG Transparency Index by the Singapore Exchange, and the Euronext Vigeo World 120 by Euronext, the primary exchange in the Eurozone. The Company was also included in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2021, achieving the Industry Mover Award for the industrial conglomerates category.
