At Keppel, our enduring commitment to contributing to the communities wherever we operate has been integral since we first set foot in Vietnam.
Over the past 30 years of operation in the S-shaped country, Keppel has made meaningful contributions, fostering sustainable development and community prosperity. In addition to regularly organising corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities focusing on environmental protection and community education, Keppel integrates volunteer activities into each annual teambuilding trip.
During a recent teambuilding trip in Binh Thuan province at the end of October, Keppel continued its mission of love and sharing by implementing the latest CSR programme, Loads of Love.
In just one week of calling for donation, Loads of Love received an overwhelming responses from the donors, including tenants at Saigon Centre, Keppel's flagship mixed-use development in Vietnam, as well as visitors and Keppel employees.
The programme successfully gathered 1.5 tons of rice, 2,265 items including clothes, shoes, toys, blankets, pillows, pillowcases, and 1,090 necessities items such as milk, sugar, seasoning, cooking oil, detergent, along with 589 notebooks, books, and learning tools. All these items were donated to Tan Ha Support Centre and Huynh De Shelter Home in Binh Thuan province during Keppel's teambuilding trip.
After a three-hour journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Thuan province, Keppel volunteers unloaded the donated packages into Tan Ha Support Centre, under the General Social Protection Center of Binh Thuan province, one of the two places receiving donated items from Loads of Love.
Mr Joseph Low, President (Vietnam), Real Estate, Keppel Corporation, shared, “We are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen, contributing to and enriching the lives of local communities wherever we operate. These donated items are a testament to the generosity of our community, which includes our tenants, visitors, and employees.”
Upon receiving the donated items under the Loads of Love programme, Mr. Bui Van Hien, Deputy Director of Tan Ha Support Centre, shared, "Currently, the facility is also facing many difficulties. Therefore, we are extremely grateful for the noble gesture of Keppel volunteers, tenants, and visitors for donating these items to improve the lives of everyone at the Centre."
At Tan Ha Support Centre, Keppel volunteers actively contributed 80 trees to provide shade for the facility's campus. Additionally, the volunteers engaged in growing vegetables and cleaning the facility's campus, contributing to a more convenient and comfortable living space.
Keppel volunteers took photos to save some memorable moments with the residents at Tan Ha Support Centre.
Simultaneously, another group of volunteers visited the Huynh De Shelter Home, ready to distribute donated gifts to the children there.
Ms Christina Goh, General Director (Vietnam), Real Estate, Keppel Corporation, presented the donated items to Sister Nguyen Thi Hoa, a representative of Huynh De Home for Disabilities.
Beyond distributing items, Keppel volunteers actively participated in preparing meals, assisting children during mealtimes, and spending quality time playing and chatting with the children at the Shelter Home.
The smiles and joy of everyone at the Shelter Home serve as motivation for Keppel to continue its journey of creating a positive impact on communities and improving lives. Keppel remains committed to contributing to the community and society throughout its development journey in Vietnam.
