Travel through the sakura forest at Saigon Centre's Japan Festival

The Japan Festival will take place at Saigon Centre from 7 to 23 April 2023.

Ho Chi Minh City, 8 April 2023 – Saigon Centre, Keppel Land’s flagship mixed-use development in Ho Chi Minh City, is holding its annual Japan Festival from 7 to 23 April 2023 in its mall for the second year. This year, the theme of the festival is inspired by old Japanese villages and train travel during the sakura season. Visitors can immerse themselves in an ancient town, sit in a model train and enjoy the wonderful sights of cherry blossoms.

The opening ceremony was graced by Her Excellency Ms Megumi Ogawa, Acting Consul-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, together with Mr Nobuyuki Matsumoto, Chief Representative of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mr Joseph Low, President (Vietnam) of Keppel Land.

Mr Joseph Low said, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, and we are honoured that the Japanese government has designated the Japan Festival 2023 at Saigon Centre as one of the official business events to celebrate this milestone. We are excited to continue introducing leading brands from Japan to the Vietnamese market, and through this festival, we hope to further enhance our customers’ shopping experience and deepen the relationship between Saigon Centre and quality Japanese brands.

An iconic annual event in town, the Japan Festival this year features the Kabuki1 Cat with a face painting in the Kabuki art style and a gold Kai-un coin, which symbolises good fortune. Shoppers at Saigon Centre can look forward to taking beautiful photos at the Sakura Station and with the Kabuki Cats. In addition, Rewards+ members can enjoy a variety of rewards such as Rohto gift sets with a minimum spending of VND2 million at the Japanese booths, as well as Kabuki Cat plush toys with a minimum spending of VND2 million. They can also participate in a lucky draw to win attractive prizes, including Yamaha Grande scooters, Fujifilm cameras, Hotel Nikko Saigon buffet vouchers and Takashimaya vouchers with a minimum spending of VND1.5 million.

In addition, there is a wide array of exciting activities and Japan-themed workshops which shoppers can participate in, including sushi-making workshops, a wagashi (Japanese confections) workshop, Fujifilm Instax camera tips workshops, Rohto dancing and interactive minigames, Panasonic cooking shows & beauty talk show, Yosakoi performance, sushi Tiger & Fujiro sandwich experience as well as a Kendo performance.
