Keppel expands “Bytes for Future” initiative to enhance digital learning for over 1,200 students in Dong Nai province

The expansion brings the initiative’s total reach to over 2,000 students in Vietnam

Dong Nai province, Vietnam, 9 September 2025 – As part of its continued commitment to education and community development in Vietnam, Keppel, in collaboration with Tien Phong newspaper, has expanded its “Bytes for Future” initiative which will benefit over 1,200 students at Nguyen Hue A High School and Thanh Binh Primary School in Binh Long Ward, Dong Nai province (formerly Binh Phuoc province). This brings the total number of students supported by the programme to over 2,000.

The launch ceremonies, held at both schools on 9 September 2025, were officiated by Mr Tran Van Tuan, Vice President of Binh Long Ward People’s Committee, Dong Nai province, and Mr Lim Kay Siong, Head, Asset Operations Management, Vietnam, Real Estate, Keppel.

Nguyen Hue A High School and Thanh Binh Primary School have faced resource constraints, particularly a shortage of modern computers essential for developing students’ digital competencies. To help address this, Keppel donated 60 computers and over 900 books, significantly enhancing students’ access to technology and learning resources. At Thanh Binh Primary School, Keppel also funded a new roof and upgraded the IT classroom, creating a more conducive learning environment.

Mr Lim Kay Siong said, “Digital literacy is essential for young people to thrive in today’s increasingly connected world. Through the ‘Bytes for Future’ initiative, we aim to empower students from underserved communities with the tools and environment they need to learn, grow and unlock their potential. We are pleased to bring the programme to Dong Nai province and hope it will make a lasting impact by enriching learning experiences and opening doors to future opportunities for the students.”

Mr Tran Van Tuan, Vice President of Binh Long Ward People's Committee, said: “While we strived to invest in infrastructure for teaching and learning information technology, these efforts still fall short of fully meeting the needs of schools in remote areas. Therefore, the computers from the ‘Bytes for Future’ programme are a truly meaningful gift from Keppel and Tien Phong Newspaper to Nguyen Hue A High School and Thanh Binh Primary School. They will undoubtedly motivate the schools to continue their journey of bringing information technology closer to their students.”

Mr Bui Quoc Viet, Principal of Thanh Binh Primary School, said, “Thanh Binh Primary School is located in a remote area near the border, where infrastructure and resources for teaching information technology remain limited.  That’s why the practical support from Keppel and Tien Phong Newspaper through the ‘Bytes for Future’ programme is truly invaluable.”

Mr Dao Nguyen Binh, Principal of Nguyen Hue A High School, said, “The practical donations including computers and books have helped ease our difficulties and created more favourable conditions for both teachers and students in teaching and learning, especially in accessing information technology, a field that is critically important in the digital era.”

Launched in 2024, Keppel’s “Bytes for Future” initiative aims to equip the next generation with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a digital world. In its first year, the programme benefitted over 800 students in Tay Ninh province through the donation of 80 computers, air conditioners and books.

With a strong commitment to sustainability and community engagement, Keppel will continue to work with partners to implement impactful initiatives that empower local communities, improve educational outcomes, and contribute to the long-term development of Vietnam.
