Singapore, 19 August 2019 – Keppel REIT marked the topping out of the state-of-the-art Victoria Police Centre at 311 Spencer Street in Melbourne, Australia today. Keppel REIT and joint venture partner, Cbus Property, each holds a 50% interest in the Grade A office tower which will be the headquarters for the Victoria Police.
The 40-storey office tower will be internally fitted out over the coming months and Victoria Police employees are expected to start moving in mid next year.
The topping out ceremony was witnessed by Ms Lisa Neville, Minister for Police, together with Mr Graham Ashton, Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police; Mr Paul Tham, CEO of Keppel REIT Management Limited, the Manager of Keppel REIT, and Mr Chris Kakoufas, Chief Operating Officer of Cbus Property, the co-owner and developer of the new office tower.
Mr Paul Tham said, “We have achieved an important milestone for the development of this landmark at 311 Spencer Street with the completion of the building structure.
“Upon the commencement of the 30-year lease to the Victoria Police expected in mid 2020, the office tower at 311 Spencer Street will contribute a steady income stream to Keppel REIT and complement our young and large pan-Asian portfolio of premium Grade A commercial assets.”
Victoria Police Centre has an estimated total net lettable area of over 700,000 sf and is strategically located between Melbourne’s central business district and the Docklands precinct. It is also within walking distance to the Southern Cross Station, the city’s major railway and transportation hub.
