27 July 2022

Keppel was recognised for its commitment to safety with 11 awards clinched at this year’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Awards, presented by the Workplace Safety and Health Council and Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore.

Keppel Land was conferred the WSH Developer Award which recognises developers who play an active role in ensuring exemplary workplace safety and health practices among their contractors.

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) received six awards under the Safety and Health Award Recognition for Projects (SHARP) category for exemplary project safety and health management systems.

Keppel DHCS and Keppel O&M (New Builds) respectively clinched a WSH Performance (Silver) Award for outstanding safety performance and implementation of strong WSH management systems.

Keppel O&M (New Builds) was awarded the WSH Innovation Award for Project Robotic S.G.V, which eliminates the risk of working at heights. By using the Robotic S.G.V, workers can inspect crane conditions at ground level and apply grease to crane wire ropes remotely.

At the individual level, Mr Rupen Dutta, Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent from Keppel O&M (New Builds) clinched the WSH Award for Supervisors for his strong commitment to the safety of workers under his charge.

Mr R K Jaggi, General Manager, Group Health, Safety and Environment, Keppel Corporation, said, “We are honoured that Keppel’s business units have been recognised at the WSH Awards 2022. As part of Keppel’s Vision 2030, we have placed sustainability at the core of our strategy and are committed to delivering solutions for sustainable urbanisation safely and responsibly.

“Keppel has enhanced the robustness of our safety processes and accelerated our digitalisation journey in adapting to the challenges of the pandemic and safe management requirements over the past two years. We are committed to continue building on these efforts by leveraging technology and working with stakeholders across our value chain to make Keppel a safer and healthier workplace.”

Keppel has been harnessing technology to enhance its safety systems and processes. For example, Keppel has rolled out an integrated safety management system that runs on an Artificial Intelligence-powered cloud-based platform that enables the digitalisation and automation of processes such as hazard reporting and permit-to-work applications. The platform can capture and utilise data to provide in-depth predictive analyses to eliminate or reduce risks involved in operations and improve the safety awareness of stakeholders.
