Keppel Corporation announced today that it has been included as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific). It joins the ranks of 332 global companies in DJSI World and 156 companies in DJSI Asia Pacific, with leading environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
Published by S&P Dow Jones Indices, the DJSI, including the DJSI World, were launched in 1999 as the pioneering series of global sustainability benchmarks available in the market. The index family is comprised of global, regional and country benchmarks. Companies are selected as index constituents based on their ESG scores resulting from the annual S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). The CSA utilises an integrated assessment of governance and economic, environmental and social criteria to select best-in-class companies with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value.
The indices serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for investors who wish to encourage companies to improve their corporate sustainability practices.
Mr Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel Corporation, said, “Keppel is honoured to be included in the DJSI World and DJSI Asia Pacific Indices. As part of Keppel’s Vision 2030, we have put sustainability at the core of the Company’s strategy. Beyond running our business in a sustainable manner, we believe in making sustainability our business by providing solutions which contribute to sustainable development and combatting climate change. We will continue to focus on the ESG aspects of our business and create value for all our stakeholders.”
The DJSI World comprises global sustainability leaders as identified by S&P Global through the CSA. It represents the top 10% of the largest 2,500 companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index based on long-term environmental, social, governance and economic criteria.
The DJSI Asia/Pacific Index measures the performance of Asia-Pacific sustainability leaders as identified by S&P Global through the CSA. It represents the top 20% of the 600 largest companies in the Asia-Pacific developed region in the SP Global Broad Market Index based on long-term environmental, social, governance and economic criteria.
